My Chocolate Experience


As you know, I love chocolate. I even have a little bit of chocolate every single day. That's right, EVERY day. Why? Because I love it, and it's good for the body and soul. I've written about that already as well as my theories around unconditional permission and how all foods can fit into a healthy diet.

So, chocolate.

Last week I was gifted a chocolate subscription from The Chocolate Tour (I know, rough job huh?) What immediately drew my attention (besides the chocolate) was the fact that they promote an experience. They intend you to enjoy your chocolate mindfully and intentionally which is exactly what I recommend we do with all foods, especially chocolate and other 'soul foods'. If you're going to eat something you enjoy - you might as well enjoy it! 100%.

The Chocolate Tour is another one of those subscription boxes, but with the added bonus of being pretty much just chocolate. They source their chocolate from around New Zealand aiming to give their customers the ultimate chocolate experience.

My chocolate arrived in a proudly branded black box. The theme this month is "nuts and seeds" and the contents didn't disappoint. There were Ocho's Short Black with coffee beans and cacao nibs. Baron Hasselhoff's hazelnut Ancho Chilli with pralines and a buckwheat and thyme honey caramel wtha rice bubble crunch. There were also some beautiful chocolatier Miram's dark chocolate almonds with 62% dark chocolate. Sound good?

Needless to say, the ones I have tasted have all been delicious so far. What? She hasn't eaten the whole box yet? You may ask. Nope, because I enjoy unconditional permission and mindful eating - I just have 1-2 here and there when I really want them and enjoy the experience thoroughly. In fact, it's been over a week since I first got my box and still plenty left to savour.

The Chocolate Tour makes that easy too as they give you a little fridge magnet outlining the method to truly enjoy your chocolate. This ritual is almost meditative in nature, and that is MY kind of meditation!

Their guide engages all the senses including sight smell, and of course, taste. And by thoroughly enjoying your chocolate while engaging your senses, you're able to truly experience the flavours, textures and aromas that chocolate has to offer.

I think it's such a great idea overall. I love surprises and old fashioned post and to get a box of chocolates on my doorstep each month would be the ultimate treat!
