Product Review: HumanNature
A couple months ago I was approached by a company called HumanNature about a product that they had developed that uses Enzogenol® or, in simpler terms – pine bark extract amongst other ingredients.
I’ll admit, as soon as I heard ‘pine bark’ my ears perked up as I knew this was commonly used by my ancestors for medicine and protection.
For some tribes, pine trees are a symbol of longevity and in others it represents wisdom and harmony with nature.
There is a legend about my own ancestors in the Eastern parts of Canada using pine bark to treat scurvy. It is told that when Jacques Cartier first landed near Quebec, Canada his crew became very sick from scurvy due to lack of vitamin C in their diet. My ancestors (being welcoming to the French Explorers) made a brew of pine bark and needles that helped treat the crew and brought them back to health. It wasn’t until later that they discovered that the reason for this was a substance found in the bark that acts as an antioxidant and greatly increases the vitamin C found in the pine needles.
This substance is now known as Enzogenol®
Despite all this, when I was approached about this ‘new and wonderful ‘product I was sceptical (you’ll be glad to know I’m always sceptical first – research and human experience first!). I figured I had nothing to lose by giving the product a go and loved that there was a connection to my ancestors amongst it.
I took the “Make me smarter” formula for 1 month (I mean, who doesn’t want to be smarter?!) and was pleasantly surprised with the results. They also have a gut health formula, a professional formula as well as their “I need to chill out” formula (and I KNOW that will come in handy!).
After 2 days I noticed that my need for that second or third cuppa vanished. Not only that but the very thought of coffee turned me off. This is fairly legendary consider my love of a good brew. I didn’t feel the need and my energy was sustained through the day with only one cup.
I didn’t notice any major dips in my energy ether. Sometimes when there’s a lot going on, these dips are a natural part of being human but while I was taking Humannature I didn’t notice them, even when the going got tough.
There were a couple other things I noticed that month, which I’m not sure were related to the product, but were definitely possible including my ability to handle certain foods without a “food hangover” and an improved level of concentration.
Overall, the worst case scenario was that I was adding some powerful antioxidants to my body and nourishing my brain with DHA – so it was a win-win even if I hadn’t experienced all of the above. I am definitely going to continue with the product as I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
I don’t sell any products at the moment in my office, just a few though my shopping page but I’m seriously considering bringing this amazing product to New Plymouth so others can see for themselves. Watch this space!
